Turoa Tumblers news

The Wanganui Motors Turoa Tumblers Gymnastic Clubs competition squad "The Falcons" were on show in Wanganui recently at the Manawatu-Wanganui Championships. Donna Deadman again led the level three girls scoring good marks on vault and floor and averaging just on eight points per apparatus. Jackie Laurenson in only her second competition scored consistently well to total 36.11. Samantha Roberts in her last outing for the Falcons before her family leaves town scored well including 7.8 on the floor. Krystal Abbott scored 8.08 on vault and 7.77 on beam to complete a good term effort in this grade. The club's level four team all excelled on the floor with Rebecca Lind scoring 8.65 which was a top 10 result out of the 37 gymnasts in this grade. Fiona Lynch totalled 37.85 with a mostly consistent competition although as with most of the girls some work on the bar would greatly improve scores on this apparatus. Nolana . Marsh also scored mostly in the high sevens with an 8.05 on the floor. Cassie Nation debuted in level five at this competition scoring three mid sevens. A little more experience in this grade will see Cassie again scoring well. The next competition for the Falcons is in Palmerston North during mid-term break. A special meeting of the Wanganui Motors Turoa Tumblers Gymnastic Club is to be held on Tuesday 28 June at 7.30pm. The club needs coaches

if the recreational section is to continue. The present coaching staff has remained unchanging for four years and with their own children now finishing in gymnastics they feel it is time to hand over the reins. The present head coach, Laureen Hays, has been involved with the club for 12 years, although interested parents won't be expected to be that dedicated! The club has a policy of paying for coaches to attend courses to gain coaching accreditation which is now necessary with the new ACC regulations. All parents of gymnasts, and intending gymnasts, are urged to attend as there is a very real chance that if there are no new coaches the club may have to fold.
