No sign of burglars
Regarding the burglary of the Waimarino Museum in Raetihi, I would like to advise the public that the ladder used to enter the building was not a stolen one, but the burglars had found it in the engine shed of which padlock they had broken. The ladder did not belong to the museum society but to a member of that society. T wo items stolen were a bible and a prayer book of 1 8 1 6 vintage. I hope the recipients of such books of wisdom would study them and see the error of their ways. One sad feature of the whole episode was the failure of the burglars to sign the visitors book. It would have saved the police much trouble.
