Fashion parade surprises in store
The annual pre- winter fashion parade is on again, happening Wednesday 22 June with doors opening at 7.30pm. Organisers of this year's event, which has the theme 'Kings and Queens', are disclosing little except to say that there are a few surprises in store for patrons. Models will strut the catwalk at the Hot Lava Club, Ohakune Junction, modelling fashions from Jean City, Sam and Libby's and Waimarino Livestock. The grand finale by the Junction Ski Shop promises to be a spectacular affair, if previous years' fashion parades are any indication. As has been the case in previous years, proceeds will benefit the Ohakune Kindergarten. In excess of $2000 was netted last year. Tickets cost $18 and entitle the bearer to two complimentary glasses of beer, wine or orange juice, the night's entertainment and supper.
Tickets are limited to 300 and may be purchased from any of the participating businesses, Ohakune Kindergarten, or limited door saies on the ^ night.
Raffles and a major spot prize will also feature on the night In other years a $ 1 00 clothing voucher donated by Glenys . Shepherd was awarded to the 'trendiest dressed'. Bill Scobie, this year's master of ceremonies, has the daunting task of tying the entire ex-
travaganza together. A feature of this year's evening will be highland dancing enter- ^ tainment courtesy of a Taihape-basedpipeband.
