GHW buys health centre site
Waimarino' s new health care centre in Raetihi took a step closer on Friday when Good Health Wanganui bought the Golden Acre hotel site in Seddon Street. The sale of the property was to be through a rates arrears sale, due to a large amount owing in rates arrears, but this account was settled prior to the sale. However the owner, Mr Martin Dekker Snr, agreed to continue with the sale, said the auctioneer.
Mr Dekker has six weeks to remove the building from the site, said Waimarino Health Care Centre manager Rowena Kui, during which time the planning and resource consent process will be worked on. She said if was not possible to give fixed dates for starting work, but that GHW hopes to have the new centre built within six months. The site has room for a health centre as well as the
rest home proposed by the Waimarino Rest Home Trust, but the Bulletin understands a decision on whether to develop this in conjunction with the centre at this site is yet to be considered by the rest home trust.
