Robbery reality
In reply to Ann Vincent' s letter regarding the photo of the mock armed robbery in the previous issue I would like to say to Ann to have a good look at the real world out in the community. You say the photo made you shocked, horrified, sickened and that you were incredulous. That is what it was meant to do. These things are happening all over New Zealand and it is like putting your head in the sand and saying that it will not happen here
in our district. Have you forgotten Ann, that a man was killed at Mananui in an armed robbery, and some years ago we had a lovely couple attacked in their home in an armed robbery. The man was killed and the woman was badly injured. It has and can happen here. I was one of the participants of the Ohakune mock armed robbery and I can tell you that everyone does need to be taught observational skills. We acted out this mock armed robbery around five in the afternoon, the shop's lights were all on and not one person saw what was happening. Three boys were riding
up and down in front and along side the shop, people were walking past outside the shop and across the road and no-one saw anything. Yes, it can happen here in Ohakune so please Ann, and the public in general, do take notice of what is happening, who knows you may just be able to save someone's life one day.
