Mtns to Sea race is on

The 1994 Mountains to Sea multisport endurance event has been given the go-ahead, despite not securing a sponsor. Organisers are surprised at now hard finding a sponsor for a proven performer event such as Mountains to Sea has been to find. "If no brand sponsor can be found, we believe we can still run a quality race. It will mean we have to do withouttheextras," he said. Five thousand entry forms for the Mountains to Sea three-day event have been distributed nationwide. Chris Knol, said that he expects all 220 entries to fill up quickly for the Labour Weekend race. Last year they filled within three weeks. The entries are divided into 13 categories including men's women' s and veteran's individual, and teams entries. "We learnt the hard way last year that you can't afford to cut back on the categories even if there are only two or three participants in a section. People want to compete on their own terms", said Mr Knol. There are also teams expected for the Iwi teams challenge and the Schools challenge.
