Waiouru school swimming sports
The Waiouru Primary School senior swimming sports were held on Wednesday 9 March at the ATG swimming complex. To encourage all children to participate a wide variety of events were included to cater for all abilities. The children particularly enjoyed the width and novelty races. Championship events saw some very close and exciting races. The teachers versus the children' s tyre race was a particularly hard-fought event but a winner could not be declared as the teachers ran
out of 'puff and could not make the end of the pool. The children contributed by making certain they did not complete the race. A final decision will have to wait for another year. The children' s 'clothed race' was highly entertaining. It was apparent that some parents had never seen their children get dressed so quickly before. The success of the day was largely due to the participation of the children themselves. A special thank-you was expressed by staff, to all the
pool staff and those parents who helped in a variety of tasks to help make it an enjoyable day for the children. Championship results: Senior boys: 1st, Aaron James; 2nd, Ryan O'Connor; 3rd, Russell Bulman. Senor Girls: 1st, Kristine Clarke; 2nd, Alleena Hakaraia; 3rd, Aisha Pomana. Junior Boys: lst,SamuelGiddens; 2nd David Kidd; 3rd equal, Steven Pain and Shaun Hill. Junior Girls: 1st, Cherisse Stephens; 2nd, Katherine Sparkes; 3rd, Fleur Howell.
