Guide biscuits the way
By Michele Monaghan This week is Girl Guide biscuit week, so the Waiouru Girl Guides will beout selling biscuits on Thursday evening, with the help of the Brownies and Pippins. Shonagh MacGibbon, one of the four guide leaders, said they will be selling house-to-house from around5.30pmuntilthey're
finished. Shonagh also said she would greatly appreciate it if dog owners could ensure their pets are inside or tied up during this time. "Last year it took about an hour and a half to sell all the biscuits," said Shonagh. Biscuits will also be available from the Post Office at Thursday lunch time. The W aiouru Girl Guides
came out of recess in 1991 with a strength of three. Now they have about 30 girls and young ladies ranging in age from nine and a half to 13. The biscuits have been a guiding tradition for about 20 years now, and are only available once during the year.
