Woman trapped in car 24 hours
A Taumarunui woman who endured a 24-hour ordeal trapped in her car down an embankment near National Park is in T aumarunui
Hospital with moderate injuries and lucky to be alive. Lynne Gundesen 33, was located by Ohakune Police Sergeant Bob Evans, 24
hours after setting out to visit a friend in Ohakune last Wednesday. Mrs Gundesen' s car ran off the road and down a bank near
Horopito, around 10km south of National Park township shortly after 10am. Thick bush made the ve-
hicle invisible from the road. The Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade was called upon to cut her from the car. From there she was transferred to the Waimarino Health Centre and later to Taumarunui Hospital. Mrs Gundesen sustained a broken collar bone, fractured rib and cuts to her head that required stitches. The cause of the accident was unknown.
