Kakatahi Polocrosse

The annual carnival of the Kakatahi Polocrosse Club was held on 5-6 February, in good weather, with 13 teams competing in the weekend event. Kakatahi went through the weekend unbeaten in their division and played Ashurst in their divisions final on Sunday, resulting in a draw for the game but lost by four on a countback of goals. The teams were evenly matched and both contested the game well, gi ving the best performance they could for their teams. Paul Kinder and pony Kiri were awarded the Best Pony/Rider combination of the carnival in the first division. Kakatahi fielded a second team in the first division, namely Kakatahi Seniors, comprising ex and older players, who performed well over the weekend. In the C Grade, Kakatahi C managed to take the run-ner-up placing jointly with the Ashurst C team. The Kakatahi team was comprised of new players who must be pleased with their result. Members would like to thank their sponsors for their support for this week-

end, helping to make the carnival a good weekend. The sponsors were Williams and Kettle, Wrightsons (Wanganui), Elders (Raetihi and Wanganui), Wanganui Insurance Brokers, Waipuna Farms, Mr and Mrs T.B. Hyland, Horseman' s Centre and the Wanganui- Wai marino Polocrosse Association.
