Task Force Green helps business group

The Labour Department' s Task Force Green is assisting local businesses through the employment of a administrative assistant for the Ruapehu South Business Association (RSBA). The RSBA, which is an incorporated society, has employed Kristin Hanley for the past eight weeks. Although relatively new to the Ohakune and Raetihi districts, Kristin has worked hard to get to know the local business community. She assisted in both Raetihi and Ohakune Christmas carnivals by helping with media reports, advertising, distributing brochures and leaflets plus being Santa's Elf at Ohakune' s Christmas carnival! Kristin said she likes the job and it is a wonderful way to meet a wide section of the community. "Retailers are so keen to help when they know the benefits will be returned to their communities," said Kristin. Before coming to Ohakune, Kristin was employed by the Auckland City Council as an administration assistant. Living on Waiheke Island, she travelled to work daily by ferry. Kristin believes there are a number of similarities between Ohakune and Raetihi and the small community of Waiheke Island.
