Turoa buys new groomers

From Page 1 Asked about plans to groom the triangle and slider trails , Mr McMaster said this would depend on whether the new lift was built. Turoa sold its 'flea' - the 1 70 machine which is thought to have been the first snow groomer in New Zealand - to Rainbow ski area in the South Island. The other 170 machine would be retained for use as a carting machine. Turoa paid up to $350,000 for the three machines, buying them through the Kassbohrer company in Germany. The price included 'a lot of new bits' including new tracks and snow tillers, as well as the shipping costs from Sweden. Two Turoa groomer staff, Louis Hanwright and Warwick "Silver" Burling, are currently attending a course at the Kassbohrer factory in Ulm, Germany, on maintaining the machines.
