Women's refuge
The Waimarino' s women's refuge service officially closes for the Christmas break this Thursday 23 December and re-opens Monday 10 January 1994, although a 24-hour emergency freephone will operate during this period. In an emergency callers can dial 0800-800-723 and will be connected with an on-duty worker. Co-ordinators for the Collective of Taumarunui Women's Refuge and Support Centre, Miriama and Jenny, thanked the local communi'ties for their support during the year.
