WOs top up runner's funds
Schoolgirl runner Charmian Oh from Waiouru met her fundraising goal just hours before departing for the Australian Secondary School AthleticChampionships last week. Charmian received $250 from the Warrant Officers Promotion Course last Wednesday which was further bolstered by the Warrant officers and Sergeants Mess by $50. Charmian also received $200 from the Corporal's Club that day. During the six weeks of the WO'sPromotion Course a total of $500 was raised for various causes, mostly through raffles
and collections. Winstones Pulp Mill was the largest sponsor of Charmian, while the Waiouru RSA undertook the Adopt An Athlete scheme and provided Charmian with $500. Thanks to Charmian' s hard work and the generosity of the Waiouru community she was able to give the money she personally raised through raffles to her Wanganui team. Charmian will be competing in the 15 and under age group at the Canberra championships in about a weeks time, returning home before Christmas.
