Waimarino gardens delight visitors
Tracks ~ Ngauruhoe , summit Trampers must take particular care on Ngauruhoe. There is snow and ice on the route and intending climbers should be prepared with ice axe. Mount Ruapehu All climbers should be prepared with alpine equipment (ice axe and crampons). Snow conditions are variable. People need to check route (if it is not marked), weather torecast and have suitable gear before attempting the climb. Weather conditions are changeable which will affect the snow conditions. Avalanche hazard There is a low hazard forecast until major weather changes. Be aware of some small drifting above 2300 metres, lee to the southerly quarter. Also be aware of waterfall holes, schrunds and hollow snow bridges. Ice axes and crampons are needed for back-country travel. Take extreme care at all times in the backcountry. Travel with care. Safe route finding is always essential when travelling in the back country.
