Raetihi school news

By Deborah Donaldson On Monday 1 November the whole school was visited by Karen Ngatai, Civil Defence co-ordinator for the Ruapehu district. Karen Ngatai took them for lessons on civil defence in the community and the procedures in an emergency. On Friday the school was visited by Gordon Rongonui, an ex-pupil of the schools. Mr Rongonui will be receiving the Queen's Service Medal for his involvement in the community as a traffic officer. He talked to the children about his life. Our secretary for many

years, Mrs M. Allerby, will unfortunately be leaving us this Saturday, November 13. Mrs Allerby will be moving to Waipawa, Hawkes Bay, to be closer to her two daughters in Napier Girls High School. Mrs Allerby has enjoyed her time with us at Raetihi School and is sad to be leaving us behind. Mrs Allerby thanks the staff and pupils at Raetihi School for friendship and support and will miss us all. She looks forward to seeing us all at the Jubilee in 1996. Thank you, Mrs Allerby for helping us all .
