National Rangitikei Hon Denis Marshall
As Rangitikei MP my constituents have always demanded that the Government provide real solutions to our country's problems. Over the past three years National has done just that. Business confidence is up, exports are up by $4 billion, building permits are up. Mortgage rates are down giving those who borrowed for their home, the equivalent of a substantial wage increase. When we came to office, unemployment was increasing at a horrifying rate. Under the previous administration, between 1985 and 1990 we lost 100,000 jobs, but now the number of unemployed is dropping. The number of registered unemployed fell by 3952 in the month of September. This is the largest fall in September since 1984. Over the past year we have created 18,000 more jobs. A further 25,000 are forecast for next year. National' s health policy is addressing the poor performance and
unfairness of the old health system. The health reforms will deliver more money to make sick people better and we have put a further $128 million to help them. Labour propose to cut the defence budget by $39 million. This will cause serious problems for the defence vote which has already been cut to the bone. National has a clear
vision for the future - without tax increases. National offers stability, security and confidence in the future.
