Gallops & glamour for school PTA
An Australian tradition is aow having spin-offs in Ohakune thanks to the initiative of the Ohakune Primary School PTA, the Ohakune Hotel, Promenade, Ragtime and Jean City stores. Four years on, names may have changed at some shops but the moti vation for supporting the school has been on-going.
The antics of participants who are able to get into the cup fever is a reflection of the enjoyment that Ohakune 'racegoers' have at the Ohakune Hotel on Melbourne Cup Day, which starts at 3.30pm Tuesday 2 November at Cleche's Bar. Spot prizes for the best dressed person and the best hat will be up for grabs. Sweepstakes and raffles
will be available. A creche is to be provided on the premises. Along with the hype of the running of the race, there
will be glamour in the fashion parade which will see
local models in local garments from the local shops.
