Remanded to Kaitaia

Donna Leona Louise Brass, 22, beneficiary of Kaitaia, pleaded guilty to one charge of breaking and entering the Junction Ski Shop in Ohakune Junction on 17 May and stealing $30,000 worth of ski clothing and to one charge of earlier stealing a backpack valued at $300. Charges of unlawfully getting into and taking a car (a Honda Prelude valued at $12,000) were withdrawn by consent because she had played only a very minor role in these offences. She had, however, broken the Junction Ski Shop window to gain access and police were seeking $1377 reparation. She was convicted and allowed bail to return to Kaitaia where she will be sentenced on 16 November. In the meantime she must report to police and community corrections service and have probation and reparation reports prepared. Counsel: Paul Brown.
