Waimarino Club news

Over the past month the Waimarino Club has run a teams challenge, sponsored by DB Breweries with teams from other organisations and have had some very successful nights. A prize-giving was held on Friday night 10 September with the following results: Darts - 1st Powerco, 2nd Swindles, 3rd Romper Stompers; 8Ball- lstSwindles, 2nd Gardeners, 3 rd Powerco; Euchre - 1st Drinkies, 2nd Swindles, 3rd Outlaws; Overall -lst Swindles, 2nd Drinkies, 3rd Powerco. All winners received trophies for their efforts and special prizes from the sponsors, with the Webbs team taking the sponsors' wooden spoon trophy. The club thanked all the teams that entered and also Sell it in the Bulletin

thanked DB Breweries for their sponsorship. • Wanganui Cosmopolitan Darts Club visited the Club on Saturday 17 September and a very exciting day was enjoyed with the Waimarino Club winning the darts challenge on the day by 35-25. Wanganui Cosmopolitan Darts have invited the club down to Wanganui where they are sure the advantage will be in their favour. • The Club had a visit from the Wanganui RSA on Sunday 26 September for a games day and this was a very enjoyable day for the members and the visitors who attended. The Wanganui RSA has invited the club for a return visit. • A social is being held on Saturday night, 9 October from 8pm with the 'Tamati' band supplying music. Club members are reminded to bring their invitation to this evening. There will be a lucky draw for drinks or a cash prize. Bona fide guests will be most welcome with a door charge of $5. • A beautiful scent and visual delight was to be seen at the club Thursday, 15 September, with the flower show in the Club Hall. The Club is happy to have been , able to supply the venue for this show. • Junior Darts started ! again after the holidays and is being held Tuesday and Sunday afternoons 3-5pm. Anyone interested can do so by ringing Chris Windle, phone 385-4337.
