Anti-vandal programme

Through a series of k seminars held in Wanganui, Marton, Taihape and Ohakune, the Fire Service is introducing the STEPS programme to School Principals and Boards of Trustees. STEPS (Schools Total Enhancement Plan for

Security) is a programme designed to assist schools in their fight against fire and vandalism. Developed by Ian Michell of the New Zealand Fire Service, Wellington and David Kearse, Principal of Stokes Valley School following a devastating fire

suffered by the school, the plan consists of 16 steps a school can follow to reduce the incidence of vandalism and fire. The programme is fully supported by the Ministry of Education, New Zealand Police and School Trustees Assovciations.
