Funds report delay

The state of the Ohakune reserves fund will be made available to the Waimarino Community Board at their September meeting. A report which was to

be presented to the board outlining the present balances of Waimarino reserves funds was withdrawn by the council's finance manager. He said by way of another report

that he had had cause to review the accounting transactions underlining his statements and that they might not be complete. He promised to present an updated report to the September meeting. Board member Bob Peck asked if reserves funds could be loaned or granted to a particular activity. Council directOr John Murrihy said the money was intended to be expended for the benefit of the people in the area where it was raised. "If it was perceived that to build something in Waiouru was of benefit to the people of Ohakune and Raetihi, for example, that would be okay." Mr Peck suggested the ice skating rink project might be a worthwhile recipient.
