Shooting inquiry

A recommendation is still yet to be adopted following the lengthy Court of Inquiry held into the accidental shooting of Sgt. David Hill at Waiouru. Sgt. Hill was shot on 23 June this year, during a live fire exercise held in the Waiouru Training Area. Sgt. Hill suffered a wound to the lower arm while acting as a supervisor for the exercise. The group participating in the exercise was the 1st Battalion, Royal New

Zealand Infantry Regiment, based at Linton. The Court of Inquiry was conducted by three Army Officers from Sgt., Hill's unit, 1 RNZIR. And while they finished gathering evidence some time ago, the findings of the Inquiry have yet to be revealed because the recommendations have had to be examined at the various levels of command up to the Land Force Command Headquarters.
