Raetihi seniors were beaten by Utiku Old Boys 43-3 on Saturday 24 July, in Taihape. Utiku Old Boys were on the score-board in the opening minutes with a successfully kicked penalty by R Kestrip. Raetihi soon followed with a penalty kick by W TeHuia Jnr. Utiku Old Boys scored two tries in the first half, one each to L Harnett and J Tacklin. Just before half-time Raetihi fullback A McCann saved three tries when his team was under pressure. In the second-half Utiku Old Boys continued to dominate play which enabled them to keep Raetihi from scoring and allowed themselves to score four tries, two to C Whale and one each to Tex and J Gordon which took the full-time score to 43-3. Player-of-the-day for Raetihi was R Rapana Jnr. R Rapana three points, A McCann two points and B Kavanagh one point. Raetihi penalty W TeHuia Jnr. Utiku Old Boys - Tries C Whale two, L Harnett, J Tacklin, Tex and J Gordon one each. Conversions R Kestrip five. Penalty R Kestrip.
