The community boards should be the council's social conscience, believes Ruapehu District councillor Ellen Gould. During discussions on social responsibility of the council (which was a topic at the Local Government Conference recently attended by Mayor Garrick Workman), Mrs Gould said the community boards should have more
social issues on their agendas. She said there would be no need for added costs to councilirom it "It's amazing what can be done in terms of these social issues and grassroots level."
