New manager for health centre
The appointment of Rowena Kui to the position of Manager of the Waimarino Rural Health Centre in Raetihi a few weeks ago was received with great enthusiasm by her staff and the community.
, The Hospital first gained Rowena's services as a Staff Nurse when she moved to Raetihi because of her husband's family business. She later went to Hamilton to complete her midwifery training returning to Raetihi to work part-time as a midwife, part-time in business with her husband and most-of-her-time as the busy mother of three children. She also served on the first Board of Trustees at Raetihi School and was chairperson for a period. In the last few years she has developed the community midwifery role and established Well Women's Clinics
in the district. Rowena is enthusiastic about her position and foresees a bright future for the health services in the region. "However", she says, " there may need to be
some changes along the way. The important thing is for us to be receptive to the opportunity we have now to improve the level and quality of services we get from Good Health".
