Crater to Taupo race grows
The U-Bix Great Lake Challenge drew 42 entries on Saturday, up from last year's single figure entries. The race was run in near-perfect conditions, with team members starting with a ski from high above the Knoll Ridge T Bar to the Top o the Bruce, a mountain bike ride on and off road
to Eivens Lodge, a road bike ride to Stump Bay near Turangi, a water ski to Taupo, sprint through Taupo, kayak down the Waikato to Huka Lodge and a 13 km run back to Taupo. Ohakune's team, sponsored by Ohakune Engineering, Hobbit Motel and Junction Ski Shop was placed 27th, while the Army teams of
"Kill Corp" and "Waiouru Warriors" were placed 23rd and 41st respectively.
