Turoa Sl§?ield enjoyed a great start to the,. 1993 ski season with around 1(K|0 visitors to the slopes on the weekend. The Movenpick and Giant Chairlifts were operatioM^^P^were the Alpine Meadow Piatter Lifts 1 and 2. ^P^roa promotions manager, Rob Jewell, ■pSaid the weekend 's predominantly sunny conditions provided near perfect skiing conditions, with great skiing from the top of the Giant to the bottom of the field. He said groomer staff would be busy pushing snow this week to make a track to ensure the High Noon T-Bar would be operational for this coming weekend. Locals reported typical early season conditions, with great on-trail skiing. While passable, areas like the boneyard were predictably light in snow, needing another dump, they said. What's up Whakapapa Whakapapa's Happy Valley facilities were operational on the weekend, with around 700 visitors enjoying the plentiful snow and firm conditions. The Top o' The Bruce ski shop and cafeteria were open, as were the Happy Valley rental building and brand new cafeteria. The field enjoyed 35cm of new snow during last week's storm.
