The council's marketing arm is promoting the route as a scenic route in an attempt to draw more traffic, tourist and otherwise, through the district. Extra traffic would generate more revenue, says the council's marketing manager Bruce Rollinson, with the public and towns along the way gaining direct benefit. The council is negotiating with BP for more 24-hour seven day servi'ce stations along the route.
