Sports trust gives $14,000
A very popular grant was made at the last meeting of the Waimarino Community Sports and Education Development Trust. It was $500 to Alan Prince, son of Ken and the late Hine Prince of Raetihi. Alan was a final trialist for the All Blacks and played for the Maoris against the Lions. He lives and
works in Nelson, misses a lot of work through rugby and also has heavy training expenses. The grant will help Alan keep up with his rugby until the end of the-season. In just over a year the trust has given out $14,000 in grants. To keep up this level of assistance to local sportspersons and groups, the Trust needs the support of the wider Waimarino community. There are many ticket-holders who need to renew their tickets. The success of the Trust depends on the continuing support of everyone, said organisers. Often the winning number drawn is not sold or is not valid. New members elected to the Trust are Chrissy Simmons, National Park and Jo Paurini, Waiouru. The position of Secretary/Treasurer, previously held by Cathy McLean, has now been
made into separate positions. Secretary is Jo Paurini and Treasurer is Cathy McLean. The
Trust have three applications under consideration, with more expected.
The Trust would appreciate help from the community to sell the tickets.
