Council draft plan objectives outlined
Two of the objectives set out for enhancing the promotional and cultural activitites in the Ruapehu District Council 1993-94 Draft Annual Plan are: • To improve the image of the District as a desirable location for tourism, business and recreational purposes.
• To create development opportunitites within the District in a way which makes the most effective use of Council resources. A number of performance measures have been set in order to achieve these objectives. They include: • To administer the Taumarunui and Ohakune
Information Centres to provide visitor service seven days a week between the minimum operating hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm while continuing to meet the New Zealand Tourism Board's Visitor Information Network standards. • To promote the District in such a way that will result in a flowon effect of increading visitor numbers to information centres by 7%. • To make grants of $41,200 in the 1993-94 financial year to organisations which assist in achieving the council's promotional and cultural objectives and who meet the council's performance requirements. • To conduct and coordinate the 'Summer Ruapehu' marketing campaign in accordance with the revised 1993-94 Marketing Action Plan within a budget of $20,000.
