In windy conditions Ohakune Karioi rugby seniors drew 13-all against Marist, at home on Saturday. Ohakune Karioi got their points in the first half with the wind in their favour, as did Marist in the second half. Marist would have won if they hadn't missed so many penalty kicks.

There wasn't as much movement with the ball throughout the game as seen in Ohakune rugby so far this year. Ohakune Karioi made it difficult for themselves through silly penalties and misjudging their kick-offs. Riwaru Tehema carried on with his penetrating runs, while Whetu Mareikura played solidly at half-back. In

the forwards Richard Matthews and the Wills brothers Mike and Brendon, played well for Ohakune. Mike Wills scored Ohakune's try, converted by Lachlan Harding, who also kicked two penalties. Marist's points came through a converted try and two penalties. Player of the day was Mike Wills.1
