Turoa's new marketer
When Joanna Savage and her partner purchased a holiday home in Ohakune in 1992, she never dreamed it would be her permanent address nine months later. The energetic 29 year old who took over the position of Marketing Manager with Turoa Skifield - a position previously held by Nancy Van der Laan, is still reeling from the transition from living and working for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Wellington, to residing in Ohakune and
working as a member of the Turoa "team." The position is the opportunity of a lifetime for Joanna, an avid skier of 20 years, who enthuses about the prospect of putting her considerable marketing talents to work in a challenging new position as well as partaking in a favourite pastime. Several years' work with the Tourism Board working on marketing strategieS of New Zealand, concentrating chiefly on the international market, has given
Joanna plenty of expertise in the marketing field. Working on joint venture marketing projects with other ski fields is an added advantage. While the skifield is still gearing up for the season, Joanna described her first six weeks as "incredibly hectic" with her first major task being to oversee the production of the brand new 'Ski Turoa' brochure. _ to page 8
