Ohakune -Karioi had their fifth successive win after defeating tough opponents Waiouru, in a physical game held in

Waiouru on Saturday. Tries were scored by Riwaru Tehema and Mario Mareikura, and both converted by Lachlan Harding who

also kicked two penalties. Outstanding players of the day were Tony Bird and Riwaru Tehema. Manager Steve Vine said

it was a real team effort. Ohakune-Karioi won their match 20-8. Waiouru finished with one try and one penalty. Player-coach Lachlan Harding was formidable at fullback for Ohakune. Ohakune led 13-5 at half-time, with Lachlan' s goalkicking proving crucial, contributing 10 points with his boot. Waiouru was unlucky when second five-eight Tim Combs dropped the ball when over the line. Tim Combs and winger Murray Lauder impressed in the Waiouru pack. Ohakune-Karioi 20 (Riwaru Tehema, Mario Mareikura tries, Lachlan Harding 2 conversions, 2 penalties. Waiouru 8 (Chris Kahu try, Mark Auporipen conversion).
