• Ohakune Police are investigating the burglary of the Ski Rack in Thames Street, Ohakune. A quantity of jackets and sunglasses were stolen in the break-in. The property was later located under a chalet in Tyne Street, Ohakune. • Police are investigating the theft of a Silver Honda Accord stolen from an Ohakune address on Thursday 6 May. The vehicle was recovered in Raetihi. • A number of thefts of petrol have occured in the vicinity of Duncan and Grey Streets, Raetihi during the past week. Raetihi Police remind residents to ensure vehicles are locked overnight and ask residents to report any suspicious behaviour to their local police station. • A 26-year old German tourist died after suffering an acute allergic reaction on Saturday 8 May. The man is believed to have suffered from asthma. Police are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. • Offenders attempted to steal a Honda 4-wheeler motor bike from a rural Raetihi property on Saturday. A heavy chain and lock plus the vehicle's ignition were also taken. The vehicle was later recovered. Police are still trying to locate the other stolen items. • An orange Toyota Starlet parked in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune on Saturday night was broken into and a handbag and car stereo removed. Ohakune Police are interested in receiving any information pertaining to the incident. • A Hillman Avenger was stolen from outside the Ohakune Hotel overnight Sunday. The vehicle was later recovered behind the Turoa Ski Resort workshop in Burns Street. Police ask members of the public who may have noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity to telephone their local police station. • Images Salon in Seddon Street, Ohakune was broken into sometime over the weekend and a quantity of hair care products stolen. Enquiries are continuing. • Offenders attempted to break into Ruapehu Motors in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune during the weekend. Police believe a Toyota Hilux or vehicle of similar make seen in the vicinity to be connected to the incident. Members of the public with any further information can telephone their local police station. All calls are treated with total confidentiality.
