LATE looks for logo
Ruapehu Construction Limited is looking for a logo and a slogan that best represents its approach to customer service and has organised a competition to find them. The Ruapehu District Council-owned company was set up as part of the local government reforms in 1991 and has traded successfully since its formation.
Chairman of directors, Garrick Workman, says the company has operated in a low-key manner since its formation, but the time has come when it needs to project a stronger image for marketing reasons. Mr Workman said the company could have gone straight to a graphic artist and had a logo prepared, but it pre-
ferred to organise a public competition, because this had the added advantage of creating a higher public awareness of Ruapehu Construction Ltd and what it does. "As a 100 percent council-owned company, it is a valuable community asset and we would like to reinforce this fact. In its first full-year of operations the com-
pany has returned more that $100,000 in dividends to its share-hold-ers, the Ruapehu District Council, which has helped to keep rates down," Mr Workman said. The competition offers prizes of $200 for the winning design and slogan and $100 for the best school entry. Entries close on 7 May.
