Raetihi ideas

by

Myra

Crowley,

publicity officer, rttc Some interesting suggestions were put forward in the 'On the Spot,' workshop, held at the fortnightly meeting of the Ruapehu International Training in Communication. One suggestion included rerouting State Highway 4 north from Wanganui through Grey Street' to Duncan Street, down Seddon Street and picking up the main highway again at Webb's intersection. Covering the swimming pool and developing a 'Splash Centre' was another suggestion as well as extending the present skating rink to allow greater space for roller-blading and making a bush walk through the lovely bush bordering the highway, next to the camping grounds. An amusing but im-

practical thought was erecting a Hollywood set facade in front of the two large 'eye-sore' buildings in Seddon Street. Council 8 Prepared Speech Contest was held in Palmerston North. Local entrant Keitha Journeaux, although unplaced, gave an interesting and well-developed speech. Her subject was 'Tall Poppies'.
