New information face
The Raetihi Promotions Group would like to thank David Stuckey for his work at the Raetihi Information Centre during his six month's employment on the New Zealand Employment Service Task Force Green scheme. David started as a volunteer for the Raetihi Information Centre later agreeing to work fulltime through the Task Force Green scheme. "This was beneficial to Raetihi, the promotions group and to David himself," said promo-
tions group spokes-per-son, Barbara Anderson. "David is seeking a job which will further his ability but while he is looking he has offered to remain a volunteer for which the Promotions Group is grateful." "David worked hard in promoting Raetihi and the Promotions Group hope that our new employee, Shelly Shearsby, will continue on at the level that Raetihi was promoted by David," she said. Shelly is employed under the New Zealand Employment Service Job
Plus Scheme. Only a quarter of her wages are paid out of the Information Centre funds which means more money can be spent on promoting Raetihi. Shelly likes Raetihi because she said it reminds her of her previous home. Before she and her family moved to Palmerston North they lived in Waiotemarama, which is about 12 kilometres out of Opononi, Northland. The Information Centre has seen quite a number of people through during the sum-
mer months but now that the weather has tumed cooler those numbers are slowly decreasing but the numbers should improve once the snow starts to fall. "Raetihi is a town with a lot of potential and once the community realize that, Raetihi will really go ahead," said Mrs Anderson. Raetihi has recently opened a walk-way down Ameku Road and on a clear day you can see down into Pipiriki, get a good view of Mount Ruapehu, see the site of one of the first houses built in Raetihi, which belonged to Peter Brass, and also see the difference between native bush and the Winstone's new forest.
