Valuations
The Confidence shown by farmers in the first half of 1992 which has reflected in higher numbers of farm units sold and the higher prices paid has continued for the latter half of the year nationally, reports District Valuer, Mark Johannsen. In Ruapehu District 30 rural saies were recorded in the December 1992 half year compared with 36 in the previous half year. Sale prices have generally moved upwards from previous levels. The average price movement for all Ruapehu rural saies was a 30 percent increase compared with a 13 percent
increase in the previous half-year. Ohakune recorded 20 saies showing a 10 percent increase compared with the previous halfyear figures of 16 saies showing a 2 percent decrease. The average sale price increased from $60,250 to $65,650. Raetihi township continues to have a relatively strong market with 20 house saies showing a 16 percent increase over 1990 Government Valuations compared with 7 saies showing a 4 percent increase in the previous period. The average sale price increased from $49,000 to $51,700.
