Medals for local riders
byDavidofRIC Dressage riders Christine Reynolds and Bernice Frost have had mixed results in their most recent competitions, with events at Trentham and Wanganui to their credit. From 5 to 7 February, both attended the North Island Dressage Championships in Trentham. "Competition was very tough there," reports Bernice, "and the weather was frightful on the first day of the event, I wouldn't have picked a day like that to ride normally!" Despite the weather, Christine and her mount 'My Warrior' reached second place in her test category, the first occasion horse and rider have competed in their new grade. Bernice and 'The Talisman' picked up 4th
place in their class. After the four qualifying tests, Bernice went through with the top 20 riders and mounts for the finals on Sunday, while Christine made the top 12 in her grade. Sunday 's weather was a great improvement and Bernice recalls the competition as being some of the strongest she has yet
seen. Both horses performed well and, in a very good field, Christine and 'My Warrior' reached 7 th overall, while Bernice was notified that she was at fifth place with several more riders to compete, so she was well out of a placing. Both riders fared somewhat better at the
equestrian events in the Wanganui 1993 Masters Games on Tuesday 9 February. Bernice competed in two competitions in her group and received a gold and a silver medal for her efforts. Christine faced a larger field in her single event and after a gruelling competition achieved a silver medal.
