By David of RIC The regular Tuesday night Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade practice was a spectacle on 9 February as firemen set alight to a building to train person - nel in the methods of fighting house fires. Although a controlled burn, the situation posed numerous problems in extinguishing it, as would any house fire, said a fire brigade spokesman, so the exercise was very worthwhile. He added that it was probably very entertaining for the crowds of spectators who appeared at the fire. The brigade spokesman also wished to thank the owners of the house for donating the structure to be burnt. "We're very grateful for the co-operation and the opportunity," he said.
