Steam train to visit
Ohakune' s railway enthusiasts are planning another rail excursion, this time with a steam locomotive, travelling to Taihape and back on Saturday 14 Februaiy. Main Trunk Rail Ohakune (MTRO) have taken the opportunity to
use the train, which is bringing 500 people to Ohakune for the day, to run the trip. Once again the excursion, the "Ruapehu Bulletin Flyer", is being run mainly to raise awareness of vintage rail, which is what the group is all about. With the high
cost of ruxming the excursion the group does not expect to make any money, but if it does, profits will go to the Ohakune Junction projects. The trip includes photo stops at the Waiouru Bank, the giant horseshoe curve at Turangarere and at the twin bridges be-
tween Hihitahi and Waiouru. Tickets are available from Ohakune TV & Electrical, Phone 385 8700. MTRO reserves the right to cancel the special unless the train is full. In that event all money would be refunded, said organiser Bob Norline.
