Marist fathers on the move

The Waimarino's Marist Fathers, Fr Bernie Vella and Fr Jock Aitken, are leaving the area, ending 20 year's service. The two Roman Catholic Church priests will leave about midFebruary. Fr Vella said the Waimarino will remain a parish, with one diocesan priest who is to be Fr Michael Lloyd, the first

diocesan priest to serve the area since the Marist fathers came here 20 years ago. Fr Vella will become hospital chaplain in Palmerston North and Fr Jock Aitken is moving to Wanganui. The Parish priests since 1972 were: Fr Condon, Fr Kerins, Fr Wilson, Fr McCormack and Fr Vella.
