The last two weeks m Raetihi have seen the usual number of end of year and Christmas functions, but two of these were of special character: The mayor* s luncheon and the Waimarino Darts Club prize giving. Mr Garrick Workman, Ruapehu District mayor hosted a successful luncheon for the senior citi-
zens of Raetihi, Ohakune and Waiouru on Tuesday 8 December at the Waimarino Club rooms in Seddon Street, Raetihi. About 30 people attended and heard the mayor speak about the previous year in his office and his plans for district activities in the coming year. The group then sat down to a catered lunch, which was
described by several guests as being "very well done." Those attending expressed their thanks to Mr Workman and to the caterers for their efforts
for the lunch. Saturday 12 December was the date of the Waimarino Darts Club prize giving, also held at the Waimarino Club. Around 60 members and guests attended and after the presentations an afternoon tea was provided. The club has had a very good year, the highlight being the trophy win in Flaxmere against a
strong local team. Although the regular Monday night games have finished for the year, the club would be pleased to hear from new members for the coming darts year, which will start in February. Interested people from age 12 and up can call Greg Windle on 3854337 or Nancy and Hira Parata on 3854-150.
