Power submissions

Forty-one submissions were received on King Country Energy's draft establishment plan, most of them generally favouring the trust concept put forward by the board. General manager Peter Till reported to the November board meeting that four submissions have given unequivocal support to the trust concept, four favoured local body ownership and four said they were strongly opposed to local body ownership. Three submitted that

the whole process is unnecessary and two said they wanted to see private enterprise own the power company next year. Twenty-two of the submissions said they favoured the trust concept with some modification to clauses relating to the appointment of trustees, selling down of shares and debt equity ratios. Mr Till said six people had given detailed thought to the legal technicalities of the draft plan document itself.
