Board says no need for houses

By

Savell

On Tuesday night Waiouru Community Board members voted to delete rental housing from their list of 1993/1994 projects. The Board was discussing the possible development of sections in the Ruanui Street sub-

division but decided to leave them in their present unserviced state. "We had a programme of developing the sections for purchase but we held back on the development because local people had a total of eight sections for sale in Waiouru. With an unknown market it was

considered wiser to allow the private owners to sell their sections," said board member Robert Vine. "We don't need rental property - we would go to pensioner flats rather than rentals. We need to encourage older people into the community,:" said Mr , Vine.
