Grave concern
• I am appealing for some help from the public in general and perhaps our sports clubs and societies, in Raetihi. Several people have approached me to ask if a working bee could be arranged to clean up some of the old headstones in the cemetery in view of the forthcoming centenary. I noted the grave of
some very early townsfolk in the name of William and George Pike, who built the boarding house in Seddon Street in 1894, the son who was a popular player for the Raetihi Football team who died as a result of being kicked while playing; the stone of the firsl Waimarino A & P Association President, Mr Walter Harris and his wife, the grave oi Ashworth Pilkington, 1898 were just a few examples of people who did much for our town. If anyone is interested in helping, I would be glad to arrange a time to suit if you would like to phone me at 3859-188 or Mrs J Seaman 3854-160.
