Rural mail

A recent court decision means around 200 rural mail box holders in the Waimarino will have to pay $80 a year if they want their mail delivered. That amount was increased from $40 by New Zealand Post and the Federated Farmers went to court to protest against the charges. However, a judge ruled that NZ Post had the right to charge fees for rural delivery. Waimarino Federated Farmers president John McCarthy said rural box holders in the area "weren't exactly happy about it".
