Senior Citizens
by David of-the RIC Around 55 senior citizens from the Raetihi area attended the Christmas afternoon tea sponsored by the Raetihi Cosmopolitan Club and held in their rooms on 25 November in Seddon Street. A few rounds of housie with prizes of grocery hampers started the afternoon, which also included an informal 'Round Robin' tournament of indoor bowls and darts in teams of four. This was enjoyed by all participants. The centrepiece of the afternoon tea was a huge Christmas cake made by Mavis Fredricksen and cut by the two eldest ladies present, Mrs Bo water and Mrs Evans. Each senior citizein present was gifted with a
parcel of meat donated by members of the Cosmopolitan Club and all agreed that Club members deserved a vote of thanks for their work in arranging the afternoon.
