Ohakune writer receives award

Ohakune historian Merrilyn George is one of 10 history writers receiving commendations and awards in the J.M. Sherrard Award in the New Zealand Regional History list for 1992. Mrs George was com-

mended for her book Ohakune: Opening to a New World , which was published in 1991. The awards were set up to commemorate the work of the late John McAra Sherrard.
